“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.” – Psalm 121:2-3

This Sunday’s Up-Coming Sermon (08/29/10)

Title: Let Down by God
Passage: Psalm 44:23-26
Topic: Have you ever felt let down by God? Have you ever felt like when you needed Him that God was snoozin’? These times can become a crisis of faith, an emotionally significant event that challenges your core belief about who you are and where God is. Our faith in God seems great when we just know things are going to work just the way we want. Our faith in God seems distant when we discover things haven’t turned out the way we anticipated. And that is where faith really kicks in. Maybe you felt like you were losin’ while God was snoozin’.

Come this Sunday and let’s discover together the truth that “He who keeps you will not slumber.” Don’t sleep in when you could be learning that God is really awake!

Think about it: “God weeps with us so that we may one day laugh with him.” – Jurgen Moltmann

Think about it some more: The Lord may not have planned that this should overtake me, but He has most certainly permitted it. Therefore though it were an attack of an enemy, by the time it reaches me, it has the Lord’s permission and therefore all is will. He will make it work together with all life’s experiences for good. – Unknown

TRUST = Totally Resting Until Something Transpires. True faith is learning to totally rest in God when nothing makes sense until something happens – and it will! … Now, go seize the day! – Pastor Hughart

Power Verse:

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” – John 3:17

This Sunday’s Up-Coming Sermon (08/22/10)

Title: Who Made You The Judge?
Passage: Matthew 7:1-5
Topic: Sometimes when someone is confronted with a wrong action or attitude in their life the first thing they respond back with is, “Who made you the judge?” What did Jesus mean in the Sermon on the Mount when he taught, “Judge not, that you be not judged?” Is Jesus stating that we are free to live as we want and no one better ever say anything to us? Is Jesus stating that church leaders never have the right to confront someone with a right spirit and right motive? Or, is Jesus talking about the way some people in general speak about others with a condemning, critical spirit? What is the true point Jesus is trying to make.

This passage is used so many times in a way that comes across with harsh, negative overtones. In light of the overall context of the Sermon on the Mount, this message really opens us up to a positive, uplifting challenge on how to live out our spiritual lives positively and be a blessing to others who may be struggling with an area of their life. This message isn’t about us having a right to judge another person, but about us having the responsibility to lift them up in a spirit of meekness and restoration.

Come this Sunday with Bible, pen, and paper, and let’s discover together a positive message for a negative world.

Think about it: To belittle, you have to be little!

Think about it some more: Can you imagine if the next time you stumble and blow it that 10 positive, grace-filled people would gather around you with positive support to help you work through your situation and would never discuss your failure or struggle with another person, how that would change your life? Now go find 10 people who need a friend like that and treat them the way you would want to be treated. … Now, go seize the day! – Pastor Hughart
